POPSK (Post Office Passport Sewa Kendra) starts
its operation at Silchar since 25/03/2017. It is the only POPSK in entire North
East region other than a Regional Passport Office at Guwahati. The said office
will serve for the peoples of Cachar, Karimganj, Hailakandi and Dima-Haso
districts of Assam.
In this
occasion of opening ceremony on behalf of Ministry of External Affairs, Mr. John Mai, IFS,
Regional Passport Officer and Mr.Hanji Yimchunger, Sr. Supdt. of POs, Cachar Postal Division, Silchar including
Local MP, State Minister/MLAs, Deputy Speakers of Assam Legislative Assembly,
Deputy Commissioners of Cachar & Hailakandi Districts and Former Union Minister
were Present.
